The Law of Attraction
This is a metaphysical New Thought belief that “like attracts like”, that positive and negative thinking bring about positive and negative physical results, respectively. According to the Law of Attraction, the phrase “I need more money” allows the subject to continue to “need more money”. If the subject wants to change this they would focus their thoughts on the goal (having more money) rather than the problem (needing more money). This might take the form of phrases such as “I have as much money as I need” or “I have a job that pays very well”.
The key is having a positive attitude as much as possible. The past and the future doesn’t exist so it doesn’t do any good referring to it. This type of awareness will help clear your mind of negative thoughts, worries and fears. This will also help calm your mind and keep you focused on your present task. This concept took me a while to understand. I would always worry about not having enough money for the future. At the end of every month, I would add up and subtract the living expenses and project numbers for the future. I noticed after a period of time we would always somehow get back to zero. I was in search of why. It seemed like the people around me that didn’t worry not only had more but were very happy. The money worry for most happens at an early age. Most parents create negative thought patterns about money for their children at an early age. When a child hears conversations like, not having enough, being broke, rich people are mean, we’ll never be rich or you weren’t born with a silver spoon in your mouth, the programming begins. Your subconscious mind absorbs this information and it becomes your mental blue print. Your subconscious mind speaks to every cell in your body. A great book to read on this subject is,“Secrets of the Millionaire Mind” mastering the inner game of wealth, by T Harv Eker. The subconscious mind is always working, even when your sleeping so be careful what you say about yourself and others. You may need to edit your list of friends. Negative people don’t realize it but they can drain your positive energy and change the mood of the conversation and environment. The old cliche comes to mind, “Misery loves company”, or “Birds of a Feather Flock Together”. You should also edit your entertainment. Movies, music and the news can be filled with negative content influencing your thought patterns which will distract you from your goals .
I believe Bob Marley was tapping into this universal concept with his song, “Positive Vibration.” “Rastaman Vibration got to have a good vibe.” If you get down and quarrel every day, your saying prayers to the devil I say.” Growing up on a farm, Bob Marley felt connected to the earth. His goal was to retire from the music business one day and return to farming. Most people don’t know he read the Bible everyday and was a vegetarian. Bob supported thousands of poor Jamaicans with food and money. Bob would meet with poor people outside of his home for hours sharing food and money. This is a good example of the Law of Circulation. The Law of Circulation states that all things in the universe is always flowing in circulation but at an ever expanding rate. What you give to one person, you will receive from a different source. So you don’t have to give with the expectation of receiving back from the same person you give to, but knowing that it will definitely come back to you multiplied from other sources. It works according to the law of cause and effect where the universe always mirrors back to you whatever you do. Maybe this is why Bob Marley’s music will live forever and every where in the world you go, Bob Marley’s music is a symbol equality, peace, love and a voice for the poor. We create positive vibrations with our thoughts. We broadcast these vibrations like a radio signal. Others on the same wavelength or channel, tune in and opportunities arrive. It’s important to to remember that thoughts can be good or bad. It’s the dominate thought you repeat in your mind that creates the vibration. When focusing on a thought or intention remember, emotion behind a thought gives it power.

Bob Marley’s “Three Little Birds” is another great example of a universal message. “Don’t worry about a thing, cause every little thing, is gunna’ be alright”. I believe the universal message in this song is that everything is in divine order. Eventually everything works it’s way out for the better. Sometime we have to be patient and let time reveal the truth. It’s only natural to fall into the negative mind set. The trick is to realize it and change your mood as soon as possible. When I fall into negative thought patterns, I listen to songs like “Three Little Birds” or my positive affirmations to lift myself up or as Bob would say, ” Lively Up Yourself. Meditation is a great way to calm your mind and change your mood.

My first introduction to the concept of “The Law of Attraction” was an mp3. download of Jerry and Esther Hicks, “The Basic Teachings on Abraham.” It was so fascinating, I couldn’t stop listening. I remember it made my two hour commute feel like minuets. It was late at night and the bus driver had his radio up loud. I was hoping he would turn it down. In that very moment, Esther was talking about how you attract what you focus on and suddenly the driver turned down the radio and I began listening more intently than ever. The fact that this happened twice during the trip lead me to believe this was a message telling me I was moving in the right direction. Jerry and Esther are a husband and wife team and have been working in this area since the sixties. That means “The Secret,” wasn’t so breakthrough after all. Esther is a gifted conduit to infinite intelligence. She channels a non-physical source energy by the name of Abraham. It’s easy to find them on YouTube and iTunes. They have allot of content including books, recordings, video’s, workshops, even a cruise. “The Law of Attraction” is on my ipod so every once and a while I can tune in and lift my spirit.
